If you are new to Internet marketing and are still struggling to set up your website, I will tell you that the most important thing about doing business on the web is getting the formula right for getting your sales.
That means you need to know how many people it will take to generate one sale. If you are selling a single item or multiple items, you still need to be able to understand the conversion rate of your website. Most people who sell on the web have no clue how many visitors view their website each day or how many pages are viewed by each visitor.
One of the best ways to keep visitors glued to your pages is with video. Depending on what you have to sell or the goal of your site, video can enhance the experience for the people who search for what you have to offer. Adding video might sound complicated but it is quite simple once you have done it a few times.
Video offers an experience of sight, sound and emotional pull. You can make people laugh, cry or feel excited with a well edited video. The goal of course is to increase your conversion rate. When people are in a heightened state, they will be more likely to follow your lead.
You can offer your video presentation in either streaming or downloadable formats. You can even do both. Streaming video plays directly on your browser and allows the convenience of instant gratification.
For those surfers with lower bandwidth capabilities, downloading the videos might be the best alternative. Some people use a short flash based video on the website to allow quick review of the subject matter and to get everyone interested in seeing more. The benefit of that alternative is that the viewer can determine from the quick introduction whether the subject matter is what they were looking for.
This concept of using video is not the same as creating an entertainment project. The marketing video is used to sell the viewer on taking the action presented to him or her by the sales copy. The video is more persuasive if it is created with the intention to promote the objective of the seller.
Putting a random music video on you site might not get you the result you wanted if your website sells widgets. The video must appeal to your target audience. Inform them, entertain them or even scare the pants off them if that works to convert them into subscribers, buyers or just warm prospects.
I regularly work with clients one on one and in web seminars on marketing on the Web. Â Remember, adding video offers a visual ‘look’ to your product or service. Â The visitor will stay longer, and will be more likely to buy.
